CLINICAL OBSERVATION ON THE THERAPEUTIC EFFECT OF PENBRITIN AND ORBENIN

Abstract
|
|
|
For the purpose of evaluating the therapeutic effect of penicillinase stable penicillin (Orbenin) and broad spectrum penicillin (Penbritin), the clinical study was carried out in 66 selected ´cases suffering from the E. N. T. disease, who visited the department of otolaryngology of the Seoul National University Hospital.
Also of 66 cases, bacteriological flora and its sensitivity test toward Penbritin and Orbenin has been studied.
Following result were obtained.
1) Of the Orbenin group, 15 cases (47%) showed good results, 4 cases (13%) crate, and 13 cases (40%) had no effect.
2) In the group of Penbritin, 20 cases (67%) showed good effect, 3 cases (10%) were mode rate effect, and 7 cases (23%) had no effect,
3) In the 66 cases, 45 strains of bacterial flora were isolated 60% of coagulase positive staphylococci was sensitive to Penbritin and 73% was sensitive to Orbenin.
Hemophilus influenza, diplococcus Pneumonia, and α-hemolytic streptococcus were very sensitive to Orbenin and Penbritin.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa was resistant to Orbenin and Penbritin.
